Eight years ago, Kelly Adighije joined Baumann Consulting. Kelly trained as a chartered mechanical engineer and built his career as a building mechanical systems design engineer in the United Kingdom. His eight years of experience involved working in diverse locations including England, Switzerland, North Africa, and the Middle East. Thus, Kelly was a perfect addition to the Baumann team. He joined Baumann’s Washington D.C. team as a Senior Mechanical Engineer and was introduced to the commissioning process. Kelly worked on projects in the D.C. metro area, as well as in Germany, Switzerland, and Ireland. He was also the lead engineer for Baumann’s LEED Platinum-certified Washington D.C. office. Kelly then spent half a year in our Frankfurt office improving his German language proficiency while working on a combination of industrial, commercial, and multifamily residential projects in Frankfurt and other cities in Germany. Soon after returning to Washington D.C., Kelly followed the company’s call to head the Chicago office where he is now leading a team of engineers, energy analysts, and sustainability consultants.

Today, Kelly is a well-rounded ASHRAE-certified commissioning expert and manages projects all over the Midwest, as well as international projects in Mexico, Curaçao, Aruba, and Sint Maarten. He has been a member of several industry organizations including the International Institute for Sustainable Laboratories and the USGBC’s Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design Technical Advisory Group. Currently, Kelly serves on the Illinois Green Alliance’s Board of Directors to promote green buildings and sustainable communities.

At Baumann, Kelly’s example is not an unusual career path.
