Jochen Schaefer has been with Baumann Consulting since the company was founded in 2006 and has had a wide range of responsibilities throughout this time. He has 27+ years of experience in the green building industry.

Jochen has managed and overseen over 50 LEED certification projects in the US and abroad. He has worked with clients to develop sustainable concepts, such as a country’s application for the Soccer World Cup in 2018 and the development of a Green Facility Guide for a leading manufacturer’s new facilities worldwide. After leading the sustainability team of Baumann, Jochen was office director in Washington, DC. before taking on a new challenge as Director of Marketing and Business Development for offices in Washington, D.C., Chicago, IL, and Frankfurt, Germany.

Prior to Baumann, Jochen spent nine years in the Mechanical Engineering Department at BASF AG, Germany. While at BASF, Jochen served as Project Manager for projects in Germany and China and all of BASF’s design projects in the U.S. He has a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Applied Science in Mannheim, Germany.

Jochen has given numerous presentations and educational seminars, is the author of various publications, and has co-authored a book. His recent presentations include:
