Lutz Miersch gained extensive international experience early in his career by working for multiple companies on both sides of the Atlantic. He is a Mechanical Engineer with 27+ years of experience in the building industry with extensive knowledge and experience in design, construction, and commission of HVAC systems. Lutz has worked for several MEP engineering consulting companies in Germany before moving to the United States in 2007 to join Baumann Consulting in their Washington, D.C. office as a Senior Mechanical Engineer and Head of the company’s MEP Group. During his initial tenure at Baumann, Lutz oversaw a variety of commissioning, design, and LEED certification projects in both the U.S. and Europe. His notable projects include the USACE Elementary, Middle, and High School project in Hainerberg, Germany and the German Stock Exchange project in German Stock Exchange, Eschborn, Germany.

Lutz returned to Germany in 2011 to serve as Senior Project Manager and Head of the MEP Group at URS Deutschland GmbH in the Kaiserslautern office. In 2013, Lutz rejoined the Baumann team as the Head of the Frankfurt office to support and manage Baumann’s expanded presence in Germany. His leadership experience, breadth of knowledge, and expertise with American and German standards make him an important asset to the team. In 2022, Lutz, by his own request, stepped down as the Head of the Frankfurt office and now supports the consulting team as the Senior Mechanical Engineer.

Lutz holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University Bergakademie Freiberg, which he earned in 1995. In addition, he is a registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Maryland (U.S.) and a member of ASHRAE and VDI.
