On the policy and regulations front, you may want to start by learning about DC’s Energy Benchmarking regulations and see how your buildings or other buildings are doing. You can do this by using the interactive map at this website DC Energy Benchmarking Disclosure.
The DOEE website explains DC’s BEPS regulations. You can find out what your building needs to score to be compliant by downloading DC’s 2021 Building Energy Performance Standards from the official website. Once you have the standards, you can check and see if your building complies by downloading the List of 2019 Benchmarking Data by Property. As you start working on your plans to improve your building’s performance, the DC Sustainable Energy Utility (DCSEU) can assist with financial incentives. If you are looking for ways to finance your projects, the DC Green Bank provides a number of new financing options.
Lastly, the Building Innovation Hub has been created to assist DC’s building industry in its efforts to reduced energy use and to decarbonize.
