Campus Forster

Baumann Consulting provided a detailed energy simulation service for Forster Campus, Forster Profilsysteme AG’s new 178,680-SF headquarters in Romanshorn, Switzerland.

Forster Profilsysteme AG, a company specializing in the production of high-quality doors, windows, and façade systems, is in the process of constructing its brand-new headquarters in the charming town of Romanshorn, Switzerland. The development encompasses three separate buildings, each housing various facilities such as offices, production halls, storage areas, workshops, and ancillary areas.

The energy simulation was developed in accordance with the LEED guidelines for a “Master Site”. All three buildings combined showed energy savings of 56% compared to ASHRAE 90.1-2010. With consideration of the on-site PV systems, energy savings increase to 85%. Even without the renewable energy, the projects achieved the maximum possible points for the Optimize Energy Performance credit.

Some of the system features contributing to this exceptionally high-performance building include:

  • Well-insulated building envelope
  • Airside heat recovery
  • Energy Efficient Heat Pumps
  • On-site renewable energy generation

We pursued v4.1 for the Renewable Energy credit since the maximum possible points that can be achieved are higher than in v4. The project got 5 Points and 1 Exemplary point for the office building and 4 points for the production and storage buildings.
