Westwood Country Club

Baumann completed an energy audit and facility condition assessment of an established country club in Northern Virginia.

The Westwood Country Club was established in 1954 and consists of 157 acres. It features a 58,000 ft² clubhouse, an 18-hole golf course, a pool house and pool, two tennis bubbles, and various buildings throughout the property.

In partnership with Facility Engineering Associates, Baumann Consulting completed an energy audit and a facility condition assessment.  The goal was to holistically identify the property’s infrastructure, equipment condition and to estimate costs for facility improvements and potential energy savings opportunities.  By providing a systemic plan for maintaining services and the associated costs, the country club was able to reduce risks of system failures and plan for future costs to repair or replace equipment.

The Facility Condition Assessment included the evaluation of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire and life safety systems as well as elevators for their condition. Recommendations for repairs and replacements with estimated costs and a 10-Year Capital Renewal Plan for all systems were described in a full report.

As part of the ASHRAE Level I Energy Audit Baumann Consulting engineers provided a walk-through assessment, analyzed utility costs of the facility, identified low-cost and no-cost energy-saving measures and made recommendations for energy-saving upgrades.

This project provided the unique opportunity to combine an energy audit and facility condition assessment in one study.
