Google Chicago Headquarters

A former cold storage warehouse located in Chicago’s historic West Loop, this facility now houses Google’s Midwest headquarters. Baumann provided comprehensive fundamental, enhanced, and monitoring-based commissioning (Cx) services.

Located in Chicago’s historic West Loop, Google’s Midwest headquarters is a former cold storage warehouse that underwent major renovations. The structure transformed into a LEED-certified loft office building spanning across 7 floors, plus an expansive rooftop deck/garden, and will provide space for approximately 1,760 staff in an open plan environment.

For this innovative project, Baumann Consulting completed a comprehensive fundamental and enhanced commissioning review across all the systems within the scope, including the use of Baumann’s unique Operation Diagnostics methodology for monitoring-based commissioning. This service was performed to review and compare system operation behavior against the designed sequences of operation, seeking out and identifying inefficiencies and thus potential energy savings to be communicated back to the owner and design teams.

Google is committed to creating the healthiest work environments possible by delivering sustainable projects that foster both employee productivity and happiness. Baumann’s services are contributing towards earning points for Google’s LEED certification, Living Building Challenge Petal Certification, and the Well Building Certification.
