Muhammad is a Commissioning & Energy Engineer for Baumann’s Washington, DC office. He first joined Baumann as a Commissioning Trainee and transitioned to a full-time employee in 2025.
Since joining Baumann in June 2024, Muhammad has worked on a variety of projects with the Washington, DC and Chicago teams, focusing on high-performance building solutions, energy efficiency, and sustainability consulting. He has supported functional testing across projects nationwide, contributed to LEED certification efforts in the DMV region and Atlanta, and participated in DC Code Commissioning to ensure compliance with local regulations. Additionally, he has collaborated with the Existing Building and Decarbonization team on energy benchmarking and decarbonization strategies, gaining experience in commissioning, green building certification, and sustainability consulting.
Muhammad holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (NUCES) and a master’s degree in Energy Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). While at UIC, he gained hands-on experience as an intern with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Industrial Assessment Center (IAC) Program at the UIC Energy Resources Center (ERC). He conducted energy audits for small and mid-sized manufacturing facilities in the Midwest, analyzing utility data and performing techno-economic assessments to identify energy efficiency opportunities. This work strengthened his analytical skills and deepened his knowledge of energy systems and sustainability.
