John Wagner is a Senior Building Enclosure Consultant for Baumann’s Chicago office. John is a licensed architect with over 10 years of industry experience. He is passionate about advocating and implementing sustainable design strategies and practices to surpass AIA 2030 Commitments to create lasting solutions for climate resiliency. John loves challenges and pursues objectives tirelessly; he promotes knowledge sharing to help inform clients and coworkers about the best solutions available. John is licensed in Michigan and Illinois, LEED Green Associate, and NCARB Certified. He is currently working toward attaining LEED AP BD+C.
John earned a Bachelor of Architecture at Virginia Tech in 2013, during which he studied for two years in Switzerland through the residency program and exchange with USI Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio. In 2019, John achieved a Master in Architecture II from Harvard Graduate School of Design, and post-graduate fellowships with Irving and Mittal focusing on inclusive building practices in refugee spaces research.
Prior to joining Baumann, John worked in the offices of Bruner/Cott Architects, leading designs on adaptive reuse, and Ellenzweig Architects, focusing on complex laboratory and life sciences design and systems coordination. During his practice prior to graduate studies, John earned his license by working in the offices of Ann Beha (Annum) Architects engaging in design renovation, retrofit, and modernization of historic structures throughout New England. He had an apprenticeship in the office of his father’s practice, Wagner Murray Architects, based in Charlotte, North Carolina where he was involved in significant cultural and public work projects in the region including renovations of the Carolina Panthers NFL Stadium.
