Chicago, IL – May 5, 2014.

On Friday, May 2, 2014, Baumann Consulting (formerly Ebert & Baumann Consulting Engineers, Inc.), was awarded the 2014 MERLIN Award for Outstanding Service Provider. Each year since 2001, the German American Chamber of Commerce (GACC) of the Midwest hosts a gala to recognize companies from the German-American business community for exceptional achievements in four categories.

Specializing in engineering and sustainability consulting services for the entire life cycle of buildings, Baumann collaborates with its client partners to develop value-added solutions for high performance buildings that are durable, comfortable and inexpensive to operate. What began as a couple of German engineers in a basement office in Washington, D.C. in 2006 has since grown into a transatlantic organization which in 2013 expanded its presence to the Midwest (Chicago and Denver) and Frankfurt, Germany. Locations were strategically selected to position the firm close to growth opportunities and clients in the Midwest’s most innovative green building markets and support sustained growth in Germany.

Baumann looks forward to continued collaboration in the German-American business community through outstanding service, leadership and innovation.

By combining German quality with American innovation, Baumann advances the building industry on both sides of the Atlantic. The company promotes the next generation of leaders in the building industry by offering traineeships to German undergraduate and post-graduate students to gain experience in the U.S. and will develop a similar program for U.S. students to work in the Frankfurt office. Baumann is also involved in cutting edge transatlantic research, including a recent project funded by the German government to analyze the synergies between Germany’s DGNB green building standard and the U.S. Green Building Council’s newly updated LEED v4 standard with the goal of pushing the envelope of the transatlantic high-performance building market as a whole.

Baumann is committed to staying actively involved in transatlantic knowledge exchange by sharing innovations and best practices with peers and partners from the energy efficient building sector at conferences and events such as the GACCs’ Innovation Seminars.

“The GACC was a huge contributor in facilitating a meeting with one of my company’s first major clients in the U.S.,” said Oliver Baumann, founder and President of Baumann Consulting. “Receiving the MERLIN Award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire Baumann team.”

Baumann looks forward to continued collaboration in the German-American business community through outstanding service, leadership and innovation.
